Overview
The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department was established at CET Campus , Sreekariam in 1964-1965. The undergraduate program on Electronics and Communication engineering was started with an intake of 33 students.
Currently, the department offers: (i) B. Tech. Degree programs on Electronics and Communication Engineering (full-time and part-time), Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (full-time only); (ii) M. Tech. degree programs on Microwave & Television Engineering, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Signal Processing, Micro & Nano Electronics, Robotics & Automation.
All the courses in the department are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department is also ISO (ISO 9001-2000) certified since 01-01-2001.

NBA Accreditation and ISO certification
1999 – The ECE branch was accredited with A5 grade
2001 – The department got ISO 9002: 1994 certification
2007 – Both the B. Tech programs(ECE ,AEI) and M.Tech (MTV) were accredited with A5 grade. The M.Tech program on AEI got A3 grade
2013 – B. Tech programs on ECE and AEI, and M.Tech on MTV are accredited with A5 grade. The M.Tech programs on AEI and SP got A3 grade
2019 – B. Tech programs on ECE and AEI are accredited with A3 grade.
2022 – Accreditation extended till 30-06-2025
2024 – M. Tech Signal Processing is NBA accredited for 3 years i.e. from AY 2024-25 to 2026-27 upto 30-06-2027

- Received IEEE Region 10 Outstanding student branch award 2013 (2nd place)
- NSS unit, College of Engineering Trivandrum, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Deepa P. Gopinath, Assistant Professor of the department, bagged 4 state level awards of Technical Cell- i) Best Unit ii) Best Programme Officer Award iii) Best Volunteer and iv) Top scorer award. (2013-14)
